LGSC-1580, THE STORY SO FAR.......
In the autumn of 2004, we arrived,
For LGSC-1580, that`s a roller-coaster ride.
The wilderness of Binaguri we had left behind,
For a place like Deolali, serene and divine.
There was THI, Umrao and the city of Nasik,
And many more attractions, more than I could pick.
Just two days it took to settle into our cozy pad,
A home for nine months, during times good and bad.
True to the Gunners, the course started with a bang,
The message was loud and clear-lots to study and cram.
The basic leg was first on the list,
But there was nothing basic to it, one must admit.
In right earnest, my hubby burnt the midnight oil,
And soon realized that it was time for sweat and toil.
As the course progressed, I was in for a jolt,
It was called the TP, which put everything on hold.
And lo and behold, it was time for the examination,
Going out and enjoying now, was limited to my imagination.
The burden of exams over, it was time to unwind,
But hubby dearest had Gunnery 1 on his mind.
Range tables and calibration were heard during class and leisure,
Not to forget the outdoors, thrown in for good measure.
Then, like a Tsunami, we were hit by the exam wave,
I prayed hard, for only HE could save.
It was time to usher in Gunnery 2 and the New Year,
Now Bofors and Krasnopol stood out loud and clear.
His course mates tell me, there’s no time to despair,
With four exams in a row, there`s so much to prepare.
But as they say, there`s a silver lining to every cloud,
It’s the term break I’m awaiting, harbour no doubts.
14 days of unadulterated furore and fun,
And freedom from classes, TP`s and guns.
